If you rotate an image in the image display window, the image is rotated 
but not the embedded exif. You have a program called exiftrans that does both
jpeg and EXIF rotation (or each separateley). It is even capable of 
automatically rotating images given the exif info...

So I wonder why digikam (or is it digikam-plugin?) does not simply offer a 
graphical interface to exiftrans

This is no longer true in recent versions of digikam (I'm using 0.7.2-2),
as far as I can tell.  Please reopen this bug with an explanation of how
to reproduce it if you disagree.
