As captioned, I get the following error in log.smbd every time smbd reloads:
[2004/05/30 07:38:10, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_printer_fn(108)
Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost - Connection refused
This happens even though I have "printing = lprng" in [global].
Enclosing my smb.conf for your information:

This bug is not present in current versions of the Debian packages. I
believe that it was fixed in 3.0.10, when a patch was introduced to change
the default printing system from CUPS to lpr at build time; this may mean
that we will need to recheck for this bug soon since it's time now to drop
this patch and make CUPS the default, but at least for the moment this bug
is resolved.
