I can telnet to port 143 (and dovecot is listening on 143), but there
is no resp
onse to any commands/queries. '/etc/init.d/dovecot stop' does not kill
the proce
sses. All I can think of is that it might have something to do with SSL
certific
ates? However, I've tried a number of different ones to no avail, as
well as tri
ple-checked the permissions. Absolutely nothing is shown in the log
files except
for the fact that dovecot was started.

As announced, I'm closing the unreproducible old dovecot bug reports which
refer to versions older than 1.0.0. If you think the bug is still present
in the current unstable version (1:1.0.7-2), feel free to reopen the report
of submit a new one.
