Package: ftp.debian.org

Recent versions of monotone FTBFS on alpha because of severe,
upstream, architecture-specific bugs detected by the package's
testsuite. I am working with upstream to get those bugs fixed, but
for now, monotone should be considered not supported on alpha.

I anticipate the 0.37-2 or 0.37-3 build of monotone to be suitable for
testing on all other architectures, but there is an old (0.35-2) alpha
build of monotone in unstable which will block it.
(That package probably had the same bugs as the current package, but
this escaped notice because we only started running the testsuite with
0.36-1.) Please remove that build from unstable.

There are four reverse dependencies of this package:

 - monotone-server is useless (and uninstallable) without monotone,
but it is an arch:all package and will continue to be useful on other
architectures.
 - monotone-viz has reduced functionality without monotone, but can be
installed and used without it.
 - tailor and qct are high-level tools for working with any number of
different VCSs. The non-presence of monotone on alpha will not render
them uninstallable or unusable.

Thank you,
zw

0.37-2, much to my surprise, built successfully on alpha, so this
request is now moot.
