Package: procmeter3
Version: 3.4f-4
Severity: normal

I am slowly getting rid of software that needs ancient Gtk+ 1.*
-libraries, because I want to deinstall all those Gtk+ 1.*-libraries some
day. Qt and Gtk+ 2.* is the way to go.

This badly-packaged software is one those few packages on my way. I never
liked to use Gtk+-version of this software; IMHO Gtk+ brings no added value
for using this kind of software. I always use just X Athena -version this
software. X Athena is even more ancient that Gtk 1.*, of course, but it may
be even more difficult to get rid of X Athena -libraries.

I hereby propose you split this package at least in two: procmeter3-xaw
and procmeter3-gtk . procmeter3 could be just an empty dependency-package
depending on both procmeter3-xaw and procmeter3-gtk . It may be good
thing to have a package called procmeter3-common, too; It could have all
that stuff that both procmeter3-xaw and procmeter3-gtk need.

Description:
 procmeter3 - graphical system status monitor
Closes: 438388
Changes:
 procmeter3 (3.5-1) experimental; urgency=low
 .
   * New upstream release.
   * Stop building the gtk1 binary now that upstream supports building for
     gtk2. gprocmeter3 is now a link to procmeter3-gtk2. Closes: #438388
   * Note that the athena binary is renamed to procmeter3-xaw. There is a
     compatability symlink to procmeter3, but that might change in a later
     upstream release.
   * More manpage whatis fixes.
   * Add Homepage field.
   * Debhelper v5.
   * Uploaded to experimental as procmeter3-gtk has a number of bugs in my
     testing.
