Package: fakeroot
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

The hurd package now ships fakeroot-hurd and no longer
Conflicts/Provides/Replaces fakeroot.

fakeroot-tcp appears to work fine on hurd-i386, and fakeroot-sysv is
currently being fixed, though that might take some more time.
fakeroot-hurd is bombing out at random places during package creation,
so also needs fixes. We'd like to keep it around though and hope
somebody will get around to address the issues.

It would be nice if /usr/bin/fakeroot could be handled by alternatives,
so that people can choose whether to use fakeroot-sysv (gratuitously
proposed name), fakeroot-tcp or fakeroot-hurd. Extra points if
fakeroot-tcp would be picked as default on hurd-i386, but that's not so
important.

What do you think about that?

Michael
