Please note that the patch applied to fix the bug reported as #170887 only
eliminates one symptom that is obvious when compiling the code, but not an
unrelated serious problem that causes malfunction of POV-Ray on 64-bit
systems as well as "unusual" 32-bit systems.  The actual problem of
compiling on 64-bit architectures and how to solve it was already discussed
two month before it was reported to Debian in the official POV-Ray support
news groups on news.povray.org.  Please refer to the message below and the
thread it is in for details about the problem and how to correctly fix it:

PS: Actually bug report #170887 should be reopened, but an email sent to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] a week ago had no effect whatsoever.  I don't
see a point in having to read pages of documentation just to do something as
simple as reopening a bug report, so this is a new report instead :-(
