For a couple years now I have been hearing that iproute's ip(8) tool would be
replacing ifconfig(8)/route(8)/etc from the net-tools package. I think this
makes sense as it does all and a lot more (the advance routing stuff, QOS,
etc).
Maybe this bug can serve to track Debian's transition. I think this would be a
good a release goal for lenny. What needs to be done to make this happen?
