Hi,
I'm not sure if this bug is the same as (#307481: aspell: symbol size
mismatch in shared library), so I'm filing a separate report.
I maintain the Balsa package and I can no longer compile it in unstable.
However I have no problems compiling the same version within a testing
chroot.
% ./configure
checking for new_aspell_speller in -laspell... no
checking for new_pspell_manager in -lpspell... no
configure: error: *** Neither aspell >=3D0.50 (recommended) nor pspell
(deprecated) library was found. Please check http://balsa.gnome.org for
information on the required files. Alternatively, check config.log for
clues.
Installing aspell-bin has no effect.
Attached to this report are balsa-2.3.2's configure script as well as
the log produced.
Cheers,
Andrew "Netsnipe" Lau

Doh!
% ls -l /usr/bin/gcc

Thanks for clearing that up!
