Package: ncurses-base
Severity: wishlist

Hello Maintainer,

I am building some embedded applications where my LCD-Display is only
64x4 or 80x4 Characters in size.

For testing I have resized my XTerm to this size but now I get the
following errors:

----8<------------------------------------------------------------------
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/] LC_ALL=C mcedit SERIALNUMBER
Screen size 64x4 is not supported.
Check the TERM environment variable.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/]
----8<------------------------------------------------------------------
and
----8<------------------------------------------------------------------
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/] LC_ALL=C mcedit SERIALNUMBER
Screen size 80x4 is not supported.
Check the TERM environment variable.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/]
----8<------------------------------------------------------------------

This is not a problem with the WIDTH/COLUMNS but HEIGHT.

Is it possibel to add the height of 4 characters to the XTerm terminfo?

Since I do not know, HOW TO create a terminfo, I can not send any
patches for it.

Thanks, Greetings and nice Day

Hello Michelle,

As written in my previous mail, this bug is a wontfix for me.. This would
be solved if I would build against ncurses, but mc is using Slang for
years now, and the ncurses interface of mc isn't really tested properly,
so I'll won't switch here.
If you need mc on so small terminals, I would suggest to rebuild it with
ncurses... (but I think on so small terminals it doesn't make sense to run
mc).

Greetings
Winnie
