Subject: gaim: accented characters can't be used in MSN Friendly Names

Package: gaim
Version: 1:1.2.1-1
Severity: normal

I tried to put in my MSN nickname (Tools->Account
Actions->[EMAIL PROTECTED] (MSN)->Set Friendly Name) a name which contains
an accented character ('Nicol=F2', my first name).

I type it and it shows on the input line. Then I click ok and I think:
"Well, it's done!". But then, my friends (the ones using the MS MSN
client) contact me and say "Hey, you have a wrong name there!". Then I
go back to the "Set Friendly Name" thing, and actually it shows 'Nicol'
instead of 'Nicol=F2'.

The same goes for other accented characters, or special characters like
the french '=E7' or the spanish '=F1'. Every time I type one of these
characters and then click OK, it gets deleted somehow and the next time
I try to set the nickname I see the previous setted nickname _without_
those characters.

For example, I set "A=E0b=E8c=F9", click OK, Set Friendly Name again, and=
 I
get "Abc" in the window.
