Package: dmsetup
Version: 2:1.02.20-2
Severity: wishlist

Hi,
to automatically (and reliably - so we can finally fix #376161) setup
the partitions of multipath'ed devices current multipath-tools would
like to use this kind of udev rule:

ENV{DM_STATE}=="ACTIVE", ENV{DM_UUID}=="mpath-*", \
        RUN+="/sbin/kpartx -a -p -part /dev/$kernel"

therefore we need DM_STATE and DM_UUID in the environment. SuSE 10 and
Ubuntu do this via:

IMPORT{program}="/sbin/dmsetup export -j%M -m%m"

however for this to work, this patch to dmsetup is needed:

http://ftp.frugalware.org/pub/frugalware/frugalware-current/source/lib/device-mapper/device-mapper-dmsetup-export.patch

The patch looks harmless. Note however that upstream won't include it as
is:

http://marc.info/?l=dm-devel&m=118495003628017&w=2

So we won't see an upstream solution too soon. Please consider applying
the patch so we finally have reliable multipathing. Let me know if I can
help in any way.
Cheers,
 -- Guido
