Package: swat
Version: 3.0.6-3
Severity: normal
Swat should support xinetd out of the box. This can be easily done by
adding file 'swat' in directory /etc/xinetd.d whose content is below.
A question could be asked if user wanted to have the xinietd sawt "on"
at install (changing the value of 'disable').
# description: Samba remote adminitration at port 901
# To log in http://localhost:901 you first need to run
# smbpasswd -a root
service swat
{
disable = no
socket_type = stream
protocol = tcp
wait = no
user = root
server = /usr/sbin/swat
}

Eh, this was originally sent to the wrong bug...which was closed,
thankfully..:-)
So, again:
Since this bug was reported, update-inetd was adapted to give correct
clues to xinetd users while, in the same time, xinetd properly uses
inetd.conf entries....
As a consequence, I don't think it's worth keeping that bug
opened. Any improvement to this mechanism belongs to the update-inetd
package, not the samba package.
