Package: samba
Version: 3.0.14a-1
Severity: normal

When root changed existing user's sid pdbedit -U S-1....-500 -u
user -r. This procedure can't update user's old rid an you got error

Unable to modify TDB passwd ! Error: Record does not exist
occured while storing the RID index (RID_000001f4)
Unable to modify entry!

It seems at problem is that according tdbtool menus..
pdbedit tried replace to new rid entry with data (store key data), but
new rid is'nt existing a database and you get above error. It should
work insert key data and delete key older ones.

user older rid
key 13 bytes
RID_00000bce == 3022 Dec This is existing at database
data 8 bytes
[000] 6E 74 61 64 6D 69 6E 00 user

New rid for user after sid change.
key 13 bytes
RID_000001f4 == 500 Dec This isn't existing at database
data 8 bytes
[000] 6E 74 61 64 6D 69 6E 00 user

Workaround is delete user and add again pdbedit -a -U S-1.....-500 -u
user or manually correct passwd.tdb by tdbtool.

man pdbedit says at -r flag is kept for backwards compability, but it is
no longer necassary to spesify it. That's not true.

pdbedit -U S-1.....-500 -u user gives user:1011:

Regards, Riku
