Package: vmnet
Version: 0.4-1
I used vmnet with hercules 2.16.5-1 trying to install linux s/390.
The slip interface didn't come up.
Checking the docs I found:
/usr/share/doc/vmnet/README:
The default install is to /usr/local/bin/vmnet.
Note that vmnet needs to be setuid root, so you really need to
install as root. Without root privileges, it can't start SLIP.
In fact, after chmod +s /usr/sbin/vmnet it worked.
Yours,
Klaus Pieper

The vmnet package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.
For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/328813 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.
Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.
Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
