i tried copying the libjavaplugin_oji.so from sun's j2sdk 1.4.2 (the
gcc32 one) to the plugin directory, when i have that file there, firefox
dies without any warning whenever i access a page that has a java applet
embedded.
hope this is only me :)

Java in Firefox/Mozilla whatever works only if the plugin file is symlinked.
IIRC .debs generated by java-package do this automatically. reopen this bug if
you are still experiencing problems.
