This doesn't have anything do to with amd64, actually. This happened because
you tried to used an unsupported Google Earth (version 4.3) with
googleearth-package 0.5.3.
I do appreciate you taking the time to submit a bug report, but remember:
once you --force, you're doing something unsupported, and it's almost
always not a bug. (Or at the very least, please at least mention that you
used --force.)
The good news is that the Google Earth version you are trying to use is
supported in googleearth-package version 0.5.4. So grab that and give it a
try. If it *still* doesn't work, please open another bug report, but it
shoudln't be failing with the message you gave. =)
