Justification: renders package unusable
When I installed the setmixer package, it produced a very loud and
unpleasant continuous sound (from both the speakers of my PowerBook
and the headset). This is potentially dangerous for the ears.
Fortunately, I had another mixer loaded at this time, and I could
mute the speakers quite quickly.
In addition to this unacceptable problem, it did something very bad to
the sound system: As soon as I unmute the speakers, I still get this
horrible sound and I don't know to reset the sound system to a clean
state. I'll have to reboot...

Setmixer has now been removed from debian. Setting mixer by
default on boottime is not done by alsa-base. Setting mixer
from command line is done with "amixer" command
from alsa-utils.
