Package: fbset
Version: 2.1-16
Severity: minor

It's slightly better to follow the MAKEDEV man page advice and run:

    cd /dev
    ./MAKEDEV

rather than:

    cd /dev
    /sbin/MAKEDEV

since in the first case the MAKEDEV command fails if the cd fails
without returning an error status (which would imply a shell bug,
since fbset's maintainer script runs with set -e, but still...).

I don't really see why. Bug 55667 asked to change it to the current
form, and that was from the makedev maintainer.

Also if cd /dev fails the system is in a state that it does not matter
much if fbset's posting fails. I've also asked Bdale and he agreed
this is a no-bug.

Please if you really disagree with me closing this bug report, reopen
with a specific example where "cd /dev" could fail.

regards,
guillem
