Package: mozilla-browser
Version: 2:0.9.5-5
Severity: wishlist

I've a couple of thoughts for improving mozilla's usability. Apologies
if I'm atypical, or misascribing the problem, or missing a preferences
setting that would fix things.

The operation for getting a URL from the paste buffer to being opened
in the browser is made irritating. If I completely highlight a URL
(e.g. that of the current location), and hit the middle button to
paste a new one on top, then instead of replacing the old URL with the
new one it puts the new one amidst the old one.

This is made slightly more irritating by the fact that, to bring up
the window for opening new locations, it's control+shift+L instead of
a two-keypress operation, and that that window has no 'clear' button
like Netscape 4, etc.

Also, it is annoyingly common that when a new mozilla window is
brought up or a new page visited, focus is on the URL current-location
thing at the top of the window, instead of on the page itself. This
means that I have to find a 'dead' region on the page and click on it
before I can use page-down, cursor keys, etc. to move around within
it.

So, my suggestions are basically that:

By default, focus should be on the web page, not the current-location-URL.
When pasting onto highlighted text, the entire text should be replaced.

I hope these are useful suggestions, at least for the upstream people.

Thanks,
        Mark
