There is no need for an IP address for many duties ettercap can be
employed in: When listening passively, there is no need to transmit
anything, so no IP address is ever used. When actively injecting non-IP
addresses, no IP address is needed. Even when the IP address _is_ to be
written to the wire, a random one can be generated--in fact, the
requirement for an IP address being in place forces the user to do
exactly that: to assign a random/user specified address.
ettercap should not require an IP address to be assigned to the
interface it's about to work with. When needed, ettercap should have
the ability to fill the IP address field in the packets it sends. This
address would be specified on the commandline/in the conffile/from
within the UI/&c., and/or generated at random when possible.
