Package: xmms
Version: 1.2.5-2
Severity: wishlist
Hi there;
Is it just me, or is random play in xmms not actually that random at all?
I've had it playing today, and my paranoia is playing up - I've listened to
one track three times, and most of the others more than once. I have a
playlist of over 2000 entries, and it should take me some days to cycle over.
Naturally the problem with being random is that you really can't tell :)
However, I get a good degree more randomness from other players (winamp, media
player, under Winblows).
Could it be something like, XMMS will randomly shuffle but places existing
picks back in the shuffle list, whereas another player will remove them from
the shuffle list until it's rolled around the playlist at least once?
Anyway, that'd be a nice feature - don't replay the same audio file from a
playlist, even in random play mode, until the playlist is exhausted.
Cheers
Richard
