Package: xmms
Version: 1.2.7-1.1
o Ogg files dropped on XMMS or loaded via command line are silently ignored
o libvorbis.so (XMMS Ogg Vorbis plugin) does not show up in Input Plugins
dialogue, but is found in /usr/lib/xmms/Plugins/Input/
I am running Testing.
libc6 2.2.5-14.3
libglib1.2 1.2.10-4
libgtk1.2 1.2.10-9
xlibs 4.1.0-14
libogg0 1.0rc3-1
libvorbis0 1.0rc3-1
libvorbisfile3 (not installed)
Installing libvorbisfile3 (which is listed as a "Recommends" of xmms)
produced this list of upgraded packages:
Reading Package Lists...
Building Dependency Tree...
The following extra packages will be installed:
libogg-dev libogg0 libsdl-mixer1.2 libsdl-mixer1.2-dev libsmpeg-dev
libvorbis-dev libvorbis0 libvorbisenc2
The following NEW packages will be installed:
libsmpeg-dev libvorbisenc2 libvorbisfile3
7 packages upgraded, 3 newly installed, 0 to remove and 377 not
upgraded.
Need to get 1037kB of archives. After unpacking 1901kB will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]
Upgrading back to xmms 1.2.7-1.1 after, Ogg support works. Perhaps
libogg, libvorbis0, and libvorbisfile3 should be Required now, since
ogg support has been integrated into xmms as of version 1.2.4? IMHO,
that would make it Just Work; Joe User isn't going to dig through the
package descriptions looking for Recommended packages that might fix
the problem. Then again, IANAPM (I Am Not A Package Maintainer), so I
might be missing something important. :)
Here's a list of the above dependencies after:
libc6 2.2.5-14.3
libglib1.2 1.2.10-4
libgtk1.2 1.2.10-9
xlibs 4.1.0-14
libogg0 1.0.0-1
libvorbis0 1.0.0-1
libvorbisfile3 1.0.0-1

The xmms package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.
For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/461309 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.
Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.
Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
