Package: xmms
Version: 1.2.10-1
Severity: wishlist

hi, I'd like to know if the possibility of having an xmms-lib package
has ever been considered, either having xmms Depend: on it or
  Conflict: with it.

I plainly ignore how many packages this would be useful for, other
than the one I'm packaging atm (amarok). currently, I can only do one
  of these:

    (1) disable xmms support
    (2) enable it and make an audio player *depend* on another audio
        player (à-la-galeon)
    (3) enable it but prevent the Depends: xmms from being generated

  I'm considering #3, but I thought it'd be nice to have a xmms-lib
  package with just /usr/lib/libxmms*.

any comment welcome, specially rationale for not creating it if that
  is the case.

  thanks,

The xmms package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/461309 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
