Package: bind9
Version: 1:9.5.0.dfsg-1
Severity: important
Hi,
The latest bind9 fails to start:
# /etc/init.d/bind9 start
Starting domain name service...: bindnamed: syscall(capset) failed: Invalid
argument: please ensure that the capset kernel module is loaded. see insmod(8)
failed!
strace shows that the capset() call fails. I have capability support is
built into the kernel:
# grep CAPABILITIES /boot/config-2.6.24.6
CONFIG_SECURITY_CAPABILITIES=y
# CONFIG_SECURITY_FILE_CAPABILITIES is not set
And the utilities from libcap2-bin seem to work:
# getpcaps $$
Capabilities for `22809': =ep cap_setpcap-ep
# capsh --caps="=ep cap_setpcap-ep" -- -c /bin/uname
Linux
