Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-k7
Version: 2.6.8-16
Severity: normal
Dear Package maintainers and contributors,
One of the gamepads I have (namely, a Logitech Dual Action gamepad)
seems to make the USB subsystem crash once it is plugged in. Here are
the kernel messages after it has been plugged in:
usb 2-3: new low speed USB device using address 4
usbcore: registered new driver hiddev
drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: ctrl urb status -2 received
drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: usb_submit_urb(ctrl) failed
No USB device seem to work beyond this point. When I insert a new
device, the most I can get is:
usb 3-2: new high speed USB device using address 5
.... but nothing more when I connect/disconnect other USB devices. The
only solution I found for USB to work again is to reboot the system.
This does not seem to be a new problem, since I noticed similar posts on
the net (e.g. the linuxquestions.org HCL, in the "Logitech Dual Action
Gamepad" entry). Moreover, this problem has probably been addressed and
solved in kernel 2.6.10 at least. May I suggest a kernel version
upgrade?
Cheers,
Olivier ROBERT

You reported a bug against the Linux kernel (version 2.6.8) that was
shipped with Debian 3.1 (sarge). Since Debian 3.1 is no longer
supported and the kernel has changed so much that it would be very
difficult to verify every outstanding bug from 2.6.8, I'm hereby
closing your bug report.
If you still see this issue with the kernel from the upcoming release
of Debian (lenny, version 5.0), then please me know and I'll be happy
to reopen this bug report.
Thanks.
