According to bugs no. 172317 and 175480, a forced disconnect could cause ppp
to continuously fork and render the system unresponsive.
Apparently, this has been fixed in unstable but the patch has not been
backported to stable. I am tagging it as security since all it takes to
bring down a system remotely is tripping the dsl connection a few times at
most in order to trigger this bug.
Because of dependencies problems, simply rebuilding ppp from unstable on
stable isn't feasible, so I am requesting that a backport be made available.
