If you quit XChat while your disk is full then ~/.xchat2/ignore.conf is
truncated to an empty file, losing your carefully crafted ignore list.
I think this is because ignore_save() opens ignore.conf with
O_TRUNC | O_WRONLY | O_CREAT - there would be no risk of losing your
old ignore.conf file in this case if it instead opened and tried to write
to ignore.conf.tmp and if successful used rename(2) to move that file to
ignore.conf
