Package: python-scipy-core
Googling around I found
http://www.scipy.org/documentation/mailman?fn=scipy-dev/2002-November/001365.html
as a proposal for packaging scipy.
The current packaging
- puts examples, tests, documentation into the python libdir. These
should be handled according Debian policy (put them in
/usr/share/doc).
- the runtime package depends on python-dev. If you think a dependency
on python-dev is necessary, please provide a python-scipy-core-dev
package.
- the weave part contains header files and Makefiles (again, in the
python lib directory).
- blitz headers are included in the package. Are these really
necessary, or would a dependency on blitz do it as well?
Thanks for considering these points
Matthias

The python-scipy-core package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.
For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/488608 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.
Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.
Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
