I was at some webpage, and wanted to check out a bug I had filed
against mysql about conffile handling. So I pressed 'g', and entered
as the target url: "bugs.debian.org/src:mysql-server", and pressed
enter.

Unless there is a message getting immediately overwritten, lynx
responds with "-- press space for next page --" on the original page.

When run from the commandline with such a url with a colon, lynx gives
a sane error message:

  $ lynx a:b

  Alert!: Unsupported URL scheme!

  lynx: Start file could not be found or is not text/html or text/plain
        Exiting...

To a sufficiently knowledgeable person, this means: "the stuff before
the first colon isn't a recognized protocol".

I don't claim any particular problem with this message, but surely
some error should be displayed when attempting to visit the same URL
from an already running lynx process.

Also, I wonder if such URLs could be made to default to 'http'. Maybe
that should be assumed if the first colon is after a forward slash?

Also, I just had a newly spawned lynx process stuck on read(0 before
displaying anything. I don't know if it might have gotten a keypress
while the xterm -e lynx was starting up .. I cured the problem by
pressing the left arrow.. This probably shouldn't be considered a bug
unless it happens again.

Both of these issues are fixed in lynx-cur.

- If a unsupported URL-scheme (e.g. lwn://bugs.debian.org/) is entered
  at the g pronpt the correct error message "Alert!: Unsupported URL
  scheme!" is displayed.

- "bugs.debian.org/src:mysql-server" goes to
  "http://bugs.debian.org/src:mysql-server";
