I used lynx to visit a local directory containing some .dvi files.
When I hit 'enter' key to open a .dvi file, it failed, and showed me an
error message:
"Can't open `/tmp/XXXXwmgAZd/L3175-910TMP.bin.dvi': No such file or directory"

Then I checked the /tmp dir, and found that the tmp file name is
actually: "/tmp/XXXXwmgAZd/L3175-910TMP.bin". The expected tail (.dvi) is
missing.

I think that's the reason I failed to open any .dvi files in lynx.

Works for me on etch both for gzipped and uncompressed dvi files.
Closing.
