Package: update-notifier
Severity: normal

If the update-notifier package is installed, it seems impossible to
prevent it from being started as part of a GNOME session. It got installed
as part of the desktop (gnome-desktop?) task, and thereby inserted into
my GNOME login session. Removing it from the session with the GNOME
session management configuration tool didn't help: it was added back when
I logged in again.

I didn't get it removed from my session until I purged the package from
my system.

For machines with multiple users, this might be sub-optimal: some users
might want it, others should not have it.

Closing this bug:

I was able today to prevent update-notifier by editing my GNOME session.

Regards, Thibaut.
