i was unable to connect from windows vista (from any linux machine i can login 
with no issues !) so i decided to add a new user (for login authentication)
i issued the command "smbpasswd -a pcguest" and got errors :-(

i tried to delete all db files and issue the command again BUT with no 
success.

here is some debug info:

Have you paid attention to this warning?  You should fix your smb.conf.

So the user 'pcguest' doesn't exist as a Unix system user, which is required
before you add the user to the smbpasswd database.  Not a bug, closing.
