When trying to attach a file in a windows share to an Evolution email,
evolution crashes. I also saw openoffice crashes that I think are
related.
The crash happens when navigating into a certain folder in the gnome
dialog to locate a file to attach. Immediately open double clicking on
the icof for the probem directory, Evolution crashes. messages.log
indicates an error:
Sep 8 16:30:27 u400 kernel: [ 2476.308768] evolution[4153]: segfault at
0 ip b3ab1148 sp bfb88e20 error 4 in libgnome-vfs.so[b3aac000+a000]
I noticed it was happening in one directory but not in another, even on
the same share. The problem directory had a thumbs.db file.
good directories didn't. So I deleted the thumbs.db file, and no more
crashing.
I installed debug libraries for everything, but after removing the
thumbs.db file it doesn't crash anymore. When I work out how to recreate
thumbs.db I will see if I can file a more useful bug report.
I have a pure sid virtual machine which crashed in exactly the same way.
