Package: ntfs-3g
Version: 1:1.2531-1
Severity: important

When i start to copy mass of data (GB) (e.g. from USB-Harddisk) after a few
seconds the transfer rate is going down
from about 30 MB/s to 1 MB/s.
The reason is that the processes ntfs-3g and famd are taking the complete
processor performance.
When i stop the copy the famd process still takes 100% processor performance!

What is the famd process needed for ?

When i kill famd then everything is working normal afterwards.
The ntfs-3g process only needs about 15% and data transfer is full speed.

There is another problem with automount of ntfs volumes by usb.
It crashes with "wrong fs type" and must be mounted manually with ntfs-3g.
How can this problem be solved ?

When i boot knoppix this two problems don't occur, so it must be a
configuration problem.

Karsten

So it may be a hardware issue, or a kernel one, but not a ntfs-3g problem.
