Package: bsdgames
Version: 2.15-1
Severity: normal

Under certain circumstances which I am unable to fully establish, trek
will begin spinning (using 100% available CPU time). It does not
appear to stop of its own volition, even after several minutes. The
only way to stop it appears to be to terminate the program.

This has now happened to me a few times - perhaps about half the games
I have attempted. It has happened at different points in the
game; in one instance, it occurred before the first prompt was issued
(after I had been queried for game parameters).

Here is a transcript of a game leading up to such a spin:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Stardate 3501.04: Klingon attack:
HIT: 160 units from 4,3, shields absorb 71%, effective hit 46
Klingon at 4,3 escapes to quadrant 0,1

Command: move
Course: 270
Distance: 1
Condition RED
----------------------------------------------------------------------
[spin...]

Here is the strace output:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
write(1, "Stardate 3501.04: Klingon attack"..., 34) = 34
write(1, "\7HIT: 160 units from 4,3, shield"..., 63) = 63
write(1, "Klingon at 4,3 escapes to quadra"..., 39) = 39
write(1, "\n", 1) = 1
write(1, "Command: ", 9) = 9
read(0, "move\n", 1024) = 5
write(1, "Course: ", 8) = 8
read(0, "270\n", 1024) = 4
write(1, "Distance: ", 10) = 10
read(0, "1\n", 1024) = 2
write(1, "Condition RED\n", 14) = 14
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Doing 'kill -TRAP `pidof trek`' (in an unsuccessful attempt to force a
core dump) produced:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
syscall_5645206(0x1, 0x7ffff8b8, 0x3fe90000, 0, 0xff4f418, 0xff4f39c,
0, 0xff4f3e4, 0xff4f3f0, 0x24000224, 0x10026978, 0, 0, 0xff, 0,
0x10020000, 0x10020000, 0x6, 0x7, 0x1001ebd4, 0x1001efc0, 0x1001fb38,
0x1001f6a8, 0x7ffff938, 0x7ffff93c, 0x7ffff93c, 0x7ffff938,
0x1001fb38, 0xa, 0x10007a4c, 0xd032, 0x1
----------------------------------------------------------------------

... followed by nothing; a kill -QUIT finally caused trek to
terminate.
