Package: gqmpeg
Version: 0.90.0-2
Severity: normal

Somewhere between 0.20.0-2 and 0.90.0-1 a problem with playlist handling
has been introduced.

I have an "everything" playlist that contains >3000 songs (~300 hrs)
and that is loaded on startup.

With 0.20.0-2, gqmpeg calculates the playlist length, and reads id3 tags
to display in the playlist window, at about a second per hour of songs
(and significantly faster (seconds to process the entire list) on subsequent
startups if I haven't run a memory-intensive application in the interim).

With 0.90.0-1 and 0.90.0-2, gqmpeg now takes about a second per *minute*
of songs. This means that the playlist window is not useful until hours
after I start gqmpeg, instead of merely minutes. Also, with the new version,
subsequent startups go no faster than the first.

The gqmpeg package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/507820 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
