Description : device-independent image acquisition and processing API

libcam is a library primarily intended for robotics and machine vision
researchers. It provides a device-independent API for acquiring,
logging, and processing images. Core supported input methods are V4L,
  V4L2, dc1394, and libcam-format log files. A modular architecture
allows image processing units to be connected in sequences or trees,
and new units can be added via dynamically loaded plugins. The
purpose of libcam is to support the process of developing machine
vision algorithms, and does not provide implementations of existing
  algorithms.

To avoid conflict with BSD libcam, upstream developers (of which I am
one) have renamed the project. I'll file a separate ITP for that when
the time comes.
