Package: virtualbox-ose
Version: 1.6.6-dfsg-2
Severity: serious
There is some assertion failure in VirtualBox that is being outputed
(thousand times a second? something like that) to /var/log/kern.log,
/var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog.
This causes these files to grow very quickly untill the / filesystem is
full. After five days of extensive usage of VirtualBox all the files
have 1.5 GB of size each (4.5 GB altogether) and my root partition is
full. Then I have to manually remove these files in order to be able to
use my system again.
It seems that this is this, and only this, message:
Nov 10 20:32:34 localhost kernel: [ 5655.155124]
Nov 10 20:32:34 localhost kernel: [ 5655.155125] !!R0-Assertion Failed!!
Nov 10 20:32:34 localhost kernel: [ 5655.155126] Expression: <NULL>
Nov 10 20:32:34 localhost kernel: [ 5655.155127] Location :
/build/buildd/virtualbox-ose-1.6.6-dfsg/src/VBox/VMM/VMMAll/PGM
AllPool.cpp(2738) void pgmPoolTracDerefGCPhys(PGMPOOL*, PGMPOOLPAGE*,
RTHCPHYS, RTGCPHYS)
repeated many, many times (there is so much of these asserts that it's
impossible to check whether there are some other VBox outputs).
System: Debian testing AMD64.
The VBox kernel module is compiled from source (virtualbox-ose-source,
1.6.6-dfsg-2).

Thanks for the note, I didn't notice this yet.
I close the bug report for now following upstream on this. If anyone still
experiences this problem with virtualbox-ose >= 2.1.4 please tell us and
re-open the report.
