Subject: fileutils: german messages for ls break emacs dired mode

Severity: normal

Hello,

the german translations for the ls command's messages
change the alignment of output. This break, for example,
the emacs dired mode.

The problem is demonstrated by the following commands:

    [EMAIL PROTECTED] [~] LANG=C ls -l .Xauthority
    -rw------- 1 voss voss 208 Jul 23 11:56 .Xauthority
    [EMAIL PROTECTED] [~] LANG=de_DE ls -l .Xauthority
    -rw------- 1 voss voss 208 23. Jul 11:56 .Xauthority

Setting LANG to de_DE shifts the filename right by one character.
This breaks programs, which depend of the exact position of the filename.
Emacs dired mode is an example for this.

The fix is easy: just remove the space after the day of the month.
This may be accomplished by the following patch:

Hi,

dired mode works for me now, even with LANG=3Dde.
So there is no point in keeping this bug open.

All the best,
Jochen
