Subject: network-manager: mobile broadband connection not shown in menu
Package: network-manager

Severity: normal

Dear Debian folks,
I try to set up an Option UMTS modem [1].
The driver hso is loaded
$ lsmod
Module Size Used by
hso 35092 0
rfkill 11908 2 hso
and the devices are created
$ ls -l /dev/ttyH*
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 249, 0 5. Apr 11:41 /dev/ttyHS0
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 249, 1 5. Apr 11:41 /dev/ttyHS1
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 249, 2 5. Apr 11:41 /dev/ttyHS2
I created a mobile broadband connection right clicking the applet,
choosing mobile broadband, add, insert some values, apply. This
connection is shown then in the connection editor. But left clicking on
the applet this connection is not shown in contrary to [1].
The user is in the dialout group, but not netdev, but PolicyKit is
installed so according to README.Debian this should not be the problem.
Do you have an idea, what might be causing this bug?
Thanks,
Paul

I had a configuration problem with HAL. So probably Network Manager did
not see a connected modem and thus did not show the option.
Following [2] fixed this for me. Therefore I am closing this bug.
Sorry for the noise. Thanks,
Paul
