Hello,
when checking the whois record for a newly registered domain I saw, that whois
doesn't display all allowed characters [0] correctly, namely German umlauts like
the »ä« in my name. They were shown as an »?«.
I believe I've fixed that problem with the version available from [1]. I'd like
to ask you to upload it to the Debian archives.
Please note, that if I shouldn't get an answer to this report, either accepting
the fix or rejecting it, I'll go ahead an post a RFS to debian-mentors.
Thank you in advance.
Greetings,
Kai

This is just a band aid which fixes the encoding for some users and
breaks it again for others.
You apparently missed bug #363366 which explains the issue and the
correct solution which I would consider merging.
I am closing this bug since it does not add anything to #363366.

Please note that I am explicitly refusing your patch, so don't try that.
