When I try to start alacarte from the drop down menu it tries to start
up but the window does not appear. When I start it from the shell with
the alacarte & command I get the follow message:

Since 2007, alacarte seems to have many updates.
Stock install of Lenny with Gnome (and alacarte, by dependency) and
launch of alacarte (Right click on menu, or command-line) does not
report any problem.
I close your bug, feel free to open another if you think that current
Debian version of alacarte still have this problem.
