Package: acpid
Version: 1.0.4-5
Severity: normal
I am not sure against which package I should file this bug. Please feel free to
reassign it if necessary.
Using Debian Etch on Toshiba Satellite P25-s507, KDE 3.5.5.
I configured the system to hibernate when LCD is closed by doing
kcontrol -> Power Control -> Laptop Battery -> Button Actions -> Lid Switch
Closed -> Hibernate -> Apply.
After this if I close the lid, the hard drive just grinds for sometime and the
screen goes blank. The machine is not powered off but there is no display. If
I hard reboot the laptop, then the machine does not go back to its previous
state but instead boots to the normal console screen (after recovering all the
journals)
Output of
sudo lshw 2>&1 > hardware.txt
is attached in this email. Please let me know if more info is needed.
I tried installing uswsusp package and use s2disk command. The behavior is the
same even then.
In the worst case, If software suspend is not supported on this machine, there
should be a message saying so instead of making the machine hang.
thanks
raju
