Package: open-vm-tools
Version: 2009.03.18-154848-2
Severity: important

The module won't load anymore, since my kernel is upgraded to 2.6.26-2. This is
a
trivial problem that just requires a recompile with the new kernel. Perhaps
multiple
versions of this package need to be released, compiled against different kernel
versions and with something like "Conflicts: ..." with linux-images greater than
the current version it was compiled for.

System information is not entirely correct, as I'm reporting this from another
machine.
This is my uname data:
Linux aven 2.6.26-2-686 #1 SMP Thu Mar 26 01:08:11 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

And the output of trying to modprobe -a vmhgfs:
23:02 aven ~ # modprobe -a vmhgfs
WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/pnp-hotplug, it will be
ignored in a future release.
WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/display_class, it will be
ignored in a future release.
WARNING: Module vmhgfs not found.

Please let me know if any other information is needed. The module will probably
work if I install from source, but that's not something I want to do :-). My
e-mail
address is [email protected] :-)

Hi,

kernel modules *always* need to be rebuild if the kernel ABI changes.
This is not a bug, closing.

Regards,
Daniel
