Package: linkchecker
Version: 2.9-2
Severity: wishlist

I just looked through the linkcheck results of checking my homepage
and there are some error reports I cannot quite explain. The URLs
which have apparently failed do exist and the error message doesn't
actually tell me much.

Two examples are:

URL 'dscf0071_Sm.jpg.61.html' (cached)
Name 'Small (642x482)'
Parent URL http://www.cyrius.com/gallery/2003-09-001-sydney/thumb3.html, line
345, col 24
Real URL
http://www.cyrius.com/gallery/2003-09-001-sydney/dscf0071_Sm.jpg.61.html
Result Error

and

URL '0220-213632_Lg_Med.jpg.3.html'
Name 'Medium (962x722)'
Parent URL http://www.cyrius.com/gallery/2004-02-003-fosdem/index.html, line
110, col 37
Real URL
http://www.cyrius.com/gallery/2004-02-003-fosdem/0220-213632_Lg_Med.jpg.3.html
Check Time 0.442 seconds
Result Error: (9, 'Bad file descriptor')

Both of them look like a problem with linkcheck rather than anything
else. There are a number of ways this could be improved:

 - First of all, the "Error" in the first example doesn't tell
   anything at all.

 - Secondly, please don't cache errors which are probably no real
errors (such as this "Error" or a "Bad file descriptor"). Only
cache errors which you know are real errors.

 - Keep a list of URLs which failed with 'strange' errors, and try
them again right at the end of the run.

Or are these real errors and I'm missing something? In this case, can
you improve the error message. But as I said, I just ran linkcheck
over those URLs and they work fine.
