Version: 2.0.7-8.woody1

When I run uptime I get an error message that says...

sql1$ uptime
Unknown HZ value! (1) Assume 100.
 11:39:25 up 125 days, 15:33, 2 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.07

I had never seen the line "Unknown HZ value! (1) Assume 100". I have an
identical box, and when I run uptime on it I don't get that message...

sql2$ uptime
 11:39:31 up 97 days, 22:47, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

I get the same message when I run ps, uptime, free, vmstat.

I looked around a bit on the web, and have found that other people have had
the same bug, and found that it may have to do with the idle time becoming
too great. But all the messages seem to be regarding the older 2.2 kernel
series. I'm running the 2.4 kernel series.

Here are a few of the helpful messages I've come across...

http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2001/12/msg00251.html
* http://alphalinux.org/archives/axp-list/May2000/0232.shtml
http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0105.0/0216.html
http://alphalinux.org/archives/axp-list/May2000/0225.shtml

* this one says that the bug went away after upgrading to RH6.1
(procps-2.0.5-1), but that's an earlier version than the one I'm running.

I will attempt to reboot my system later this week, and will append what I
find out then to this bug report. For now here are my system stats...
