Package: apt-cacher-ng
Version: 0.3.11-1
Severity: important
Hello:
Going on with my regular usage of apt-cacher-ng I got to the point where a
lot
of files couldn't be downloaded from the mirror I use. At first I thought it was
the mirror to blame, but I then modified the sources.list line that required
usage of acng and using aptitude download worked.
I was trying to find out a way to get debug information about the issue, but
seems that acng is build with no debug information and I couldn't get any
valuable information from logs even I had:
VerboseLog: 1
ForeGround: 1
Debug:11 (also tried with 3 and 1)
This is how I got the error:
I place this line in sources.list which holds the mirror I regularly use:
deb http://localhost:3142/ftp.gul.uc3m.es/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
After that:
aptitude update
aptitude -q -o Debug::Acquire::Http=true

On the apt-cacher.log there's nothing but:
1243029227|M|Download of debrep/pool/main/d/dpkg/dpkg_1.15.1_amd64.deb finished
1243029227|I|468|127.0.0.1|debrep/pool/main/d/dpkg/dpkg_1.15.1_amd64.deb
1243029227|O|119|127.0.0.1|debrep/pool/main/d/dpkg/dpkg_1.15.1_amd64.deb
But if I do:
wget http://ftp.gul.uc3m.es/debian/pool/main/d/dpkg/dpkg_1.15.1_amd64.deb
I do get the file.
Problem with this kind of issues is that mirrors are such a moving target and
it's difficult to reproduce, so adding instructions on the acng would have
helped. Alternatively I will be glad to provide whatever information I am
requested to help solving this out.
Regards,

Description:
apt-cacher-ng - Caching proxy for distribution of software packages
Closes: 530021
Changes:
apt-cacher-ng (0.3.12-1) unstable; urgency=low
.
* New upstream release
+ more reliable closing of file handles (might solve #529744)
+ reveals origin of 40x HTTP errors to the user (for #530021)
* verbose Debconf configuration for automated backend setup which repeatedly
confused some users in the past (closes: #530021). Deprecates the
truncate-and-reconfigure trick.
