Package: calibre
Severity: normal

Hi.

calibre appears to ship a copy of beautifulsoap, although the library is
available in package python-beautifulsoap.

Please adapt the packaging so that to depend on the other package. Pay
attention the the eventual version discrepency in doing so.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

P.S.: I didn't file this bug with increased severity, although I believe the
policy dictates that such change should be made.

Thanks for pointing this out. (In fact I'm already aware of this).

> Please adapt the packaging so that to depend on the other package.

I already did for the bundled libraries where using the system one
works (see debian/rules). However, the bundled beautifulsoup one has
calibre specific modifications. I told upstream that this sort of
forking isn't nice; he's aware of it, but he won't fix all of them
anytime soon.

The calibre package ships it under a calibre-private namespace, so it
shouldn't conflict with the packaged python-beautifulsoup.

Thanks for your report!

Martin
