Hello!
Navit is not shown on Illume/E17, because it does not provide an icon in
/usr/share/icons/ nor in /usr/share/pixmaps/. Instead, it provides two
scaled ones for applications that use the hicolor icon theme:
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/22x22/apps/navit.png
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/navit.png
There are three bugs here:
1) an icon (or a link) should be provided either in /u/s/icons/ or
/u/s/pixmaps/ and I prefer the latter, because it is the one
specified in the Debian menu package
/usr/share/pixmaps/navit.png -> ../icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/navit.png
2) the Debian menu does not contain an icon field
3) per the Debian menu package, icon must be installed in the XPM format
and must not be larger than 32x32, but please see the discussion at
http://bugs.debian.org/531941
